Embracing the True You

Mar 13, 2024

In a world that often pushes us to conform to certain standards and expectations, the concept of the "True You" can feel elusive. We're bombarded with messages telling us to change ourselves—to be thinner, smarter, and more successful. But what if the True You isn't about changing who you are but about renewing your mind and seeing yourself as God sees?

The idea of the True You is rooted in the belief that each of us is created uniquely and intentionally by a loving and purposeful Creator. It's about embracing the inherent worth and value of being a beloved child of God. And it's about recognizing that our true identity is found in Him.

Renewing the mind is a crucial aspect of discovering the True You. It involves shifting our perspective away from the world's standards and towards God's truth. This process requires intentional effort and a willingness to challenge our deeply ingrained beliefs and thought patterns. As the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Beholding Jesus is key to understanding our true identity. As we fix our eyes on Him, we see ourselves as He sees us—loved, accepted, and chosen. In Jesus, we find the ultimate example of authenticity and purpose. He lived his life fully aligned with the Father's will, never compromising his true identity for the sake of others' expectations.

What we find in Jesus, we also find in ourselves. As His followers, we are called to reflect His character and embody His love in the world. This means embracing our strengths, talents, and passions, knowing that they are gifts from God to be used for His glory.

Embracing the True You isn't always easy. It requires vulnerability, courage, and a willingness to let go of the masks we wear to hide our insecurities. But the freedom that comes from living authentically, in alignment with our true identity in Christ, is worth it.

So today, I encourage you to take a step towards embracing the True You. Spend time in prayer and reflection, asking God to reveal His truth about who you are. Surround yourself with a supportive community that will affirm and encourage you on your journey. And remember, the True You isn't about changing yourself—it's about discovering the beautiful masterpiece that God created you to be.
